THE SAFE STRATEGY

SAFE’s strategy has three essential elements:

PREVENTION

Education and awareness to keep people from entering the sex industry

INTERVENTION

Avenues for those who are being exploited to exit the sex industry

RESTORATION

Multi-faceted, survivor-centered treatment to enable a healthy future

Phase 1 – COVID-19 Relief

In response to COVID-19, the Executive Committee of SAFE in Tampa Bay elected to pivot our plans for Phase One and follow the leadership and direction of SAFE Founders and the team in Seattle by addressing the immediate needs of our agency partners amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Our adjusted Phase One Strategy funding will be used for the following:

  1. Catalyst Opportunity: funding to launch ideas/activities that could help agencies raise funds from other donors and/or sustain/expand their efforts.

  2. Direct Client Assistance: funding to meet the growing needs of clients linked to COVID-19 – housing, childcare, transportation, etc.

  3. Organizational Assistance: funding to be used for operating expenses associated with a loss of revenue/fundraising or increased costs linked to COVID-19.

Phase 2 – Crisis Housing During 2021 Super Bowl

SAFE in Tampa Bay launched Phase Two in February of 2021.

Our focus was to address the immediate and increased need anticipated by the Super Bowl being hosted in Tampa Bay on February 7, 2021, and to grow the number of emergency beds or temporary housing available for women exiting human trafficking in Tampa Bay.

We received 5 partner proposals in response to our Request for Proposals. Created was awarded the Phase Two grant to fulfill the need for additional emergency housing for sex trafficking victims.

Thanks to the generosity of many, over $51,000 was donated to Created to provide safe housing to women freed from sexual exploitation and human trafficking in Tampa Bay. This funding has allowed Created to reach more women with the truth that they can find a place of true healing and recovery as well as providing safe housing for 1,423 women.

All SAFE grantees must be organizations that are:

Effective governance
